Pitná voda na hřbitově a Studánka v lese

Příspěvekod DerOlleHansen » čtv bře 1, 2018 20:25

EN:
In Germany you will find tap water on most every cemetery - conveniently close to the entrance - so that visitors can water the flowers on the graves.
This is an ideal possibility for hikers and bikers to fill up their waterbottles for free. Many cemeteries are outside the villages not far from the pedestrian and cycling trails.
Is it the same in Česko, so you can rely on this supply? I found quite a lot cemeteries along my trail.

There are also many water supply wells in the map (many are called "Studánka") and if pictures are available on mapy.cz they look somewhat promising. Would you drink that water?

CZ (translation by google  )

Napijete tu vodu?

Hello:) I have never been drinking water on the cemetery:-) "Studanka" is like a little spring... Let's say, it is safe to drink from the springs...but you never know if it was not polluted somehow - I prefere to purify the water everytime when I drink from a not bottled water (I use Steripen, or you can use Sawyer). So you may expect some bacterias there...but no chemical pollution. Many people do drinking from the springs without purifying water and they are fine:)

It really depends on the source. If you are going to Czech Saxon Switzerland and you will be drinking from a sandstone rocks... you are like 99,99% safe:)

I'll add: yes, there is water at some (maybe many) cemeteries and it could be ready to drink as it is the easiest to use standard water system. But I wouldn't rely on it, I prefer to take water at restaurants, there is drinking water for sure.

Check if there isn't some sign. Pitna voda is drinking water and Nepitna voda just opposite. The second usually means there is some real problem.

most cemeteries has some source of water, but often only some old well with a mechanical pump in small villages or if the cementary is away from the village (with non-drinking water I expact), some are probably connect to water supply system of village, but no one will not gaurantee you drinking water, maybe somewhere will be a sign (pitna voda) but easier way (especially in Czech) is no sign (though the water is good for drink) :)

So in villages or "agriculture areas" I usually have to buy the water or take it in restaurants, pubs (usually on a toilet).

There is a very helpful database of water springs in the mapy.cz, in nature and often in villages too, a lot of them has photo (if you are online) so you can see if it only little water from ground (some puddle) or a strong source/stream of water and first of all you can see if the source is somehow modified by people for people to ease take and drink the water :) common in hills only some pipe but from these source I have not a problem drink water without a filtering :)
For example on your route in Klokocuvek village or like this
I guess you can find many good source of water in the Oderske Vrchy area but between Odry and Ostrava it will be a big problem, so only in the villages, to buy or in restaurants and so on.

After reading some articles about water in nature I just ordered a water filter: http://www.miniwell-filter.de/mw-l610.html
Boiling water is also safe but needs a lot of fuel, that you have to carry on your back. I do not like campfire as it easily reveals your position and often it is not allowed.

Thank you for the hint with "Nepitna voda"!

I also thought about just knocking at any door in the villages and ask for water. I can not speak your language but I think "talking with hands an feet" will do :D If I show an empty water bottle, I think everyone will understand.
But I would like to learn to ask. How do I say in your language: "Excuse me please, would you be so kind to help me with some drinking water?"

If I find a restaurant or a pub I will stay a while for shure and have a beer. ;-) And then fill up my water bottles.
I also saw that many restaurants offer reasonably priced daily specials. I will use such offers, so I do not need to cook in the evening. (saving fuel)
And I learned to feed upon "the fruits of the country" that I am travelling. :)

@scinkk: yes, I meant those pictures in mapy.cz
I use a GPS receiver with my own maps ad I transfered the sources into my map, so I can find them even offline.
I also stored the offline maps of mapy.cz. (I now use Mapy.cz even here at home in Germany as I like it much more than google maps.)

Between Odry and Ostrava I prepared my trail with some detours, so I pass villages with a small shop and/or restaurant.

Thank you for the hint with "Nepitna voda"!

Often "Užitková voda" too (= good water but no gaurantee for drinking)

I also thought about just knocking at any door in the villages and ask for water.

yes this is a good alternative, I did it so many times. But without a knocking, (I guess
many Czechs are not too nice for this), better is ask someone who working on his garden (in Czech very popular activity especially during the weekend :) and give him a bottle over his fence.
I guess there it will be not a problem with a language with a bottle in your hand and backpack on your back :) And a lot of people know well the word wasser :) But you can say "Dobry den, mohl bych Vas poprosit o pitnou vodu?" thanks "Velmi děkuji" (but you can use Guten tag and danke :)

If I find a restaurant or a pub I will stay a while for shure and have a beer. ;-) And then fill up my water bottles.

yes, exactly, I guess the easiest way.

Yes, I know ... I use it. :D
Anyhow I use a GPS receiver with maps as well because it needs less battery than a smartphone. And if I should run out of energy I can buy new batteries at any gas station.

The spring photos (and other POIs) in mapy.cz application are available online (you can download only maps), but after open the POIs/photos are cached to phone, so you can see them offline. If you will not be online during trek, you can before it open all spring photos around your route and so than you can check the photos if you need during trek in offline mode.

I hope you will be share some trek report here after finish it, especially the Polish/river part will be interest for me :)

That sounds like a lot of work ...

I am able to go online on my trip but I will do it seldom to save battery. So most of the time the smartphone will be completely off (or just tracking GPS).

scinkk píše: I hope you will be share some trek report here after finish it, especially the Polish/river part will be interest for me

On trips like this I usually write a diary/logbook and sometimes I write a travel report when I am home.
Anyhow I am thinking about a kind of live blog during my trip. The best software I found for this purpose is a Danish sailing app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... eepsailing). With this I could share my position and photos and I can decide if I send data "live" or later, perhaps in a restaurant with WIFI and 220V for loading.
As a test you should be able to see a short hiking trip on this link: https://www.keepsailing.net/logbook.asp ... e32555e742
(Use the "gear wheel" icon and then the "picture" icon to change the background to satelite or map view.)

Sharing Position "live" would enable people to meet me - everyone who brings steaks and beer is a welcome guest!

Hallo Kollege.

Hier: http://www.estudanky.eu/vyber
